DBP allocates P1.1B for construction of Angeles City Hospital

THE Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP) is set to infuse 1.125 billion peso credit aid for the construction of an eight-story hospital in Angeles City. Part of the plan was realized after DBP and Marquee Doctors Medical Center Inc. (MDMCI) officials signed the loan agreement, which covers the purchase of hospital machinery and equipment. When completed, the hospital is expected to increase the availability of quality and affordable healthcare services as it plans to be a 200-bed Tier 2 hospital that is expected to serve the medical needs of approximately 411,000 residents of the Angeles City and surrounding areas. DBP’s credit assistance to MDMCI, which was approved by its board last October, was provided under the bank’s flagship healthcare program called Strategic Healthcare Investment for Enhanced Lending and Development (Shield). DBP Senior Vice President for Development Lending Paul Lazaro said the bank will continue to be a more focused catalyst towards an improved healthcare system in the country that is more responsive, accessible and affordable, by especially for Filipinos in underserved and remote areas. He said that by the end of December 2021, more than 31 billion pesos had already been approved for 126 accounts under the DBP Shield.
